Dissecting The Pusha T/ Drake Beef

Ever since Pusha dissed Drake in his most recent album DAYTONA, the pair have being going back and forth both scoring points, and it might just be the greatest rap beef of the decade.

If we’re gonna get to the bottom of this we need to go all the way back to the 2000’s. Drake’s mentor Lil Wayne was beefing with Pusha’s group Clipse. Drake got involved later on, both parties exchanging bars about each other in songs for years.

Fast forward to present day and the anti got upped in a big way. The DAYTONA album by King Push was just short of being a masterpiece. The highlight for many was the final track Infrared, the start of this recent beef. Pusha claimed that Drake isn’t a real one like him or Kendrick Lamar, he spit vicious bars about Drake using ghostwriters. On first listen this was absolutely crazy stuff, it’s ended up being so minor, the tip of the iceberg.

A day hadn’t even passed before Drake replied with his Duppy Freestyle, an entire diss aimed at Push. It was cold blooded, Drake aimed some clever shots at Pusha’s about his drug dealing days.

“Man, you might’ve sold to college kids for Nike and Mercedes / But you act like you sold drugs for Escobar in the ’80s.”

Drake followed up with shots not only at Pusha, but at his fiancé, that’s when things got interesting. Pusha clapped back quick with a diss track of his own The Story of Adidon. Pusha went all in and let’s be honest, he destroyed Drizzy. Before even hearing the song you see the artwork, Drake in blackface, it’s a point to Pusha straight away. The blackface became a theme in the song as Pusha brings up Drake’s ethnicity as he spit

“Confused, always felt you weren’t Black enough / Afraid to grow it ’cause your ‘fro wouldn’t nap enough.”

The vicious shots continued as Pusha brought up Drake’s secret son, Adonis. Pusha claimed that Drake has a child to a porn star, and he had some pretty wild things to say about it.

“A baby’s involved, it’s deeper than rap / We talkin’ character, let me keep with the facts / You are hiding a child, let that boy come home / Deadbeat mothafucka, playin’ border patrol, ooh / Adonis is your son / And he deserves more than an Adidas press run, that’s real / Love that baby, respect that girl / Forget she’s a porn star, let her be your world.”

As if all this wasn’t soul crushing for Drake, Pusha brought up how Drizzy’s Dad ran away when he was five years old, then perhaps the most vicious shots came at the expense of Drake’s producer, OVO 40.

“OVO 40, hunched over like he 80, tick, tick, tick / How much time he got? That man is sick, sick, sick”

For those who don’t know OVO 40 has Multiple Sclerosis. Pusha went in HARD.

Pusha’s winning this one, folks. If Drake can comeback to outdo Pusha here then he’s the real king of rap and nobody would dare beef with him ever again. Pusha T is a real rapper, he made the man who created God’s Plan look far worse than he did prior to the beef. I’ll leave both diss tracks below and let you decide, but I can’t imagine how you could think this isn’t a Pusha win.
